Nickel-cadmium batteries (Ni-Cads) are capable of more than 750 charge-discharge
cycles. We sell Sanyo industrial grade high capacity cells. (Many
lower cost D cells and C cells have much lower capacity.) Charge rates
are given for a 15 hour charge. Capacity is in milliamp-hours (mAH).
Unfortunately, nicads do not have anywhere near the capacity of alkaline
throwaway batteries. They will last about 1/3 to � as long as the
non-rechargeable before needing a recharge. They should be completely
discharged before being recharged to prevent "memory effect". |

NiMH batteries
have up to twice the power of Nickel-Cadium rechargeable batteries,
can be recharged or topped off anytime, and don't have the memory
effect. Their only drawback is all NiMH batteries self discharge
about half their energy in two months withourt use. They can be
recharged about 500 times and last for years. Unlike Nickel-Cadmium
batteries, Nickel-Metal Hydride batteries don't contain any toxic
substances. We carry the Sanyo
brand.

Battery Charger
This charger will recharge AAA, AA, C and D cells and 9 volt batteries
and it automatically sets the charging current for each type of cell.
C and D cells charge at 240 mA, so it will take a 4000 mA-Hour D cell
about 18 hours to charge. 9 volt, AAA, AA and C cells take 7 hours.
It comes with a male cigarette lighter plug and coiled cord for use
in 12 volt electrical systems. |

This charger can charge two AAA, AA, C and D cell batteries. The 160
mA solar panel on the flip-open battery holder cover can charge AA
batteries in 3 hours of full sun. A 4 amp-hour D cell takes 25 hours.
The meter on the front panel tells how long charging will take based
on the amount of sun hitting the panel. A blocking diode prevents
nighttime discharge, so larger batteries can be left in for several
days. Batteries are not included with charger. Made in China.
